What to Wear: Petite

Petite brides to be should be looking for styles to show off their waists. You want a good tight-fitting gown so you don't drown your small frame. We would recommend you steer clear of ball gowns, layers, ruffles or fluffy fabrics and 3D appliques, especially around the waist area.

Second on your list to try on should be an A-line gown, flattering across all sizes, this style hugs in all the right places. This season we love Felicity, style 69606, a fun and flirty boho gown made of lace with a halter neckline and high back.

As for fabrics we recommend petite girls look for crepe gowns. They are plain and non-fussy and give structure to your bridal look. Violet, style 18501, is a perfect example for petite brides. A plain crepe gown with a fit and flare silhouette to elongate the waist. A belt worn high up on the waist will also add length to your body.

Don’t forget that whatever gown you choose it will need to fit you really well. Ensure your seamstress takes up the gown to avoid your gown looking to long for you, and synch it in at the waist too. If you opt for sleeves ensure these are not too long, and you can also cut them to ¾ length if you are worried about this look.

As for accessories, the simpler the better. Heavy, long veils and capes can look too much. That goes for jewellery too – keep it light and delicate on the neckline and instead invest in some showstopping earrings to complete your wedding day look!
