I met Stuart in a night club, and seven years later he proposed at the Grand Canyon in Las Vegas! We had a helicopter ride to the Canyon, and were the only people in the canyon when he proposed. We got married in July at the picturesque Meldrum Country House in Aberdeenshire.
The moment we were engaged I knew we were going to get married at Meldrum, I wanted a glam wedding at it was just perfect for it. Thankfully, we didn’t have to postpone and we had the best weather and best day on our original date. Stuart got just as involved in the wedding planning, and even though there was a bit of panicking about covid, it was so much more fun doing it together.
I knew what dress I wanted, tried on something totally different, and then changed my mind after leaving the shop! Thankfully the bridal consultant Ashley at Avorio was amazing, and I chose the Nadette (style 69351) because of its gorgeous detail and the back design. It caught my eye the moment I entered the shop, and I tried it on in ‘off-white’. I ordered it in white, and it exceeded my expectations! The whole shopping experience was unbelievable, but I’d like to give a special mention to Ashley for getting me my dream dress.
We had one of the hottest days in July, and we got our wedding outside which was perfect. The day went far too fast, but it was lovely. Finally seeing my friends and family in the same place after so long and saying ‘I do’ to my best friend and love of my life was just magical. We nearly didn’t have our band because of covid, but I’m so glad we did, Velvet Noir were amazing.
Our photographer was Calum Riddell and the photographs are just beautiful.
My advice for future brides is to take some time out with your partner after you’ve been married, and have twenty minutes just to soak everything in. The day goes really fast, so you should take the time to enjoy it. Also, I had really bad wedding blues after it was over, so I’d recommend taking a few days out after the wedding to recover!
