We met through mutual friends at a party back when we were 19 and soon after we went on a date to the cinema. Jordan proposed in our house after the typical Scottish weather ruined his original plan. He got our little girl involved and got her to ask “mummy will you marry my daddy?”. It was so special to have Amelia involved and it is a moment I’ll never forget.
As for my wedding dress I always knew I wanted to go for an A-line style but was open to ideas on the design and details. In my hunt for the perfect gown, I think in total I visited around 5 shops and probably tried on about 20 dresses before I actually found the one. I fell in love with the Ronald Joyce dress Clotilde 69479 the moment I tried it on. After trying on so many dresses and not feeling the one I started to get a bit disheartened and felt like I was never going to find one. However, one morning a local wedding dress shop called The Wedding Planner in Helensburgh uploaded a photo of a new dress they had got in that I really liked the look of. So I booked an appointment and went in to try it on the following week. Little did I know that the shop had a Ronald Joyce event on the day I went in and they had the whole of the collection in store for that weekend only. After trying the dress on that I originally went into the shop to try and still falling in love with it one of the girls there suggested I tried on Clotilde. Instantly I fell in love it was everything I could have ever wished for and more. All the details were perfect!
I kept everything quite simple. I am not one to wear a lot of jewellery, so my husband surprised me with Swarovski earrings and a cathedral length veil and I just kept it at that. My dress was so detailed I didn’t feel I needed to add anything extra.
There wasn’t really a specific theme for the wedding, although a lot of the room had mirrored details for example mirrored table plan and welcome sign, mirrored tabletops and name places. All the details just fit in perfectly and the room was just beautiful.
Budget wise I am not the best for giving advice as I never really set one. Although one bit of advice I will give is if there is something you really want then get it. For example, we were so unsure whether to pay for a videographer, but now our wedding is over and we have received a sneak peak of our highlights video I can honestly say I don’t regret it one bit and I am so happy we have this to look back on for years to come.
The best bit of our wedding for me was just having everyone together. With having to postpone due to the pandemic last August we were desperate for our day to arrive. The atmosphere was amazing as it was the first event anyone had been to in so long that everyone was so happy.
Also, the best bit of our wedding was Jordan’s reaction when he saw me. He was so sure in the lead up to the wedding that he would not get emotional but as soon as he turned around, he just said, “oh wow” and started to get so emotional. That part of the day will stay with me forever and is so special to me.
The funniest part was when we were alone taking our photos at the pier close by we were walking along and all of a sudden my veil got caught in the rope at the sides and nearly pulled me over the edge!
