How did you personalise your day?
My husband and I didn’t stick to a certain theme. We just went with what we liked, and everything seemed to fall together really nicely. But if I had to pick a theme for our wedding day I would say it was Boho. We got married in a beautiful hotel right next to the beach. Our first dance was ‘Wonderful Tonight’ by Eric Clapton, which was the same some my parents had for their first dance back in 1989. We love the song and it was also a moment we used to pay tribute to my mum who sadly passed away in 2014.
What was most important for you to have at your wedding?
Being able to have our children as our page boy and flower girl as well as being surrounded by our loving family.
Did you have any idea of what style or shape of dress you were looking for?
I honestly had no idea what I was looking for. I tried on every style you could possibly imagine before finding my dress. I must have tried on about twenty or thirty dresses.
Where did you buy your dress from?
Sharon Gregory, in Mallow, Co. Cork.
What dress did you end up choosing?
I chose ‘Liberty’ from the Victoria Jane collection by Ronald Joyce. It’s an elegant crepe and lace dress which is slim on the body and comes out at the bottom in a fish tail silhouette.
Who went with you to try on dresses?
My sister who was also my Maid of Honour and to be honest, I couldn’t have asked for a more honest opinion.
Anything else that you would like to share about your day or dress?
My maid of honor and I set out to find the perfect wedding dress about a year before the wedding day. When I tried on the dress, I knew it was for me straight away. It was fitted perfectly but still so comfortable. The material was so different to what I had seen elsewhere. My favorite part of my dress was the train behind. We celebrated with a bottle of pink bubbles that Sharon Gregory gifted me and I was so thrilled that I found the perfect wedding dress. It was so incredibly comfortable! I really would love to wear it again. The dress was so perfect, and I got so many compliments on it.
Any tips for future brides?
My husband Ben and I had the most amazing day and night together. I would say to future brides it’s important to enjoy every minute!! don’t be nervous or stressed. It will all work out as planned and it will be one of the best days of your lives. Let your hair down and enjoy the day and night!
