How did you personalise your day?
We loved the idea of a winter wedding; fires roaring, crisp weather, all our guests dressed in black tie, but with a soft and romantic feel to theme. This led us to having vintage rose bridesmaid dresses and a mix of white, vintage rose and winter berry flowers. The venue signified everything we wanted for the day. It was so grand, elegant and classy with big tall windows on the orangery, it was just perfect.
What was most important for you to have at your wedding?
I have been with my partner for a very long time, so for me, I was really looking forward to exchanging our vows and starting the next chapter as husband and wife. This was made so incredibly special by having everyone we loved in the same room as us, and we both love a party so we couldn't wait to celebrate our wedding with the most amazing people.
Did you have any idea of what style or shape of dress you were looking for?
No not at all, I knew I would need to try everything on in order to decide on a style. The first shop that I went into, which is the shop I bought my dress from, I picked a wide choice of dresses to try.
My dress was the third dress I tried on in my first shop! I instantly got a few butterflies in my stomach when I was putting it on. However, as I always doubt myself, I did try a few more styles and dresses on in order to make sure I knew it was the one. I have attended a lot of weddings and wanted to make sure I found something a bit different. I knew I wanted to have sleeves and I just didn't see anything similar to my dress in any of the other stores. The dress made me feel so special, and I thought it would suit the venue perfectly. The dress I ended up choosing was called Barcelona, which was actually where I went on my hen do! I bought it from Christina K Boutique in Maidstone.
Who went with you on the big wedding dress shopping day?
My mum and my sisters came with me the first time I tried the dress on. We are close and they know me so well, I definitely needed their advice. My MOHs came back with me the second time, as I just couldn't not show them before the big day.
Any tips for future brides?
The best advice someone gave me was to go with a dress you feel amazing in in the moment, there and then. Not one you feel would look better if had had your hair done or lost a few pounds. Your dress will make you feel amazing for being you.
